Industrial lighting has long been a mature market. While offering a proven base of utility, most point-source lighting products have seen little change since the rise of mercury lamps many decades ago. Lamp and ballast technology advancements have typically been incorporated into existing luminaires as “drop-in” replacements and the proliferation of generic, vendor-supplied reflector and lens components has resulted in a marketplace defined by one-size-fits-all optical solutions.

More recently, multi-lamp fluorescent high-bay luminaires have enjoyed a measure of market success due to their energy-saving attributes.
